Handcarved and Sliced
Which Iberian Ham To Choose
Jamón Ibérico (Iberian Ham) varies by feed type, curing periods, leg or shoulder, Iberian breed percentage and many other factors, so the best choice depends on taste, budget, occasion, how you want to serve it and how much preparation you want to do.
If you want convenience, ready-to-serve sliced and handcarved packs are ideal for tapas, gifting, and trying premium Iberian ham without buying a whole piece. They are almost always vacuum packed and have very long shelf lives (up to 12 months unopened).
If you want the full experience, whole legs and shoulders offer a traditional centrepiece and excellent value for regular serving. Note that hey require a proper ham stand, a proper carving knife and some knowledge of how to carve.
Once carving has started, they typically need to be consumed within a few weeks if propery cared for. The Spanish way is to carve as you need it and take a few easy measures to preserve as you go.
It's ideal for a party, large gatherings, or for families who love Iberian Ham.
