The town of Priego de Córdoba is located on a fertile plain at the foot of the Sierras Subbéticas.
The “Priego de Córdoba” designation of origin, which also includes Venta del Barón, only recognises extra virgin olive oil from the Hojiblanca, Picuda and Picual varieties. This designation is reserved for olive oils with a wide range of culinary applications, particularly for enhancing salads, as a finishing touch to prepared dishes and for raw consumption.
The Regulatory Council for the Priego de Córdoba Designation of Origin was created in 1995. Since then, it has vigorously promoted the quality and promotion of the products. The extra virgin olive oils under this designation of origin have been honoured nationally and internationally with almost a thousand awards since its creation.
