HOW OUR SPANISH GOURMET DELIVERIES WORK

Deliveries are one of the biggest challenges for any online store and especially one that offers gourmet produce that needs to be temperature controlled and arrive to you, our customer, in the freshest state possible.

This is our challenge of course and we aim to ensure it never becomes your problem.

We usually ship within 24 hours of the order being placed so all delivery times are based on the time your order is shipped.

Exception:
-Temperature sensitive products are only shipped Mon-Weds in standard delivery and Mon-Thurs on next day delivery. This is to ensure that perishable produce is not left in storage over weekends. All other non-perishable produce is shipped within 24 hours.

All times refer to working days only, excluding weekends and public holidays in Madrid & Spain. We also take into account public holidays in Ireland and NI to ensure that your purchase of perishable products is not unnecessarily delayed in transit. There is a list of all public holidays in Madrid and Spain below.

Saturday deliveries are available with UPS who are our main logistics partner.

Logistics partners

We partner with UPS primarily due to their service coverage and delivery commitments and performance. Sometimes we also use DHL and Fedex when it is more apt to do so.

Toma Spanish Gourmet Deliveries and Costs

Spanish Gourmet Deliveries and Costs

Whichever logistics partner we use, we always charge our customers according to the table above. We do not profit from the delivery costs and you will see from the table that we absorb some of the delivery costs based on the value of the order and the weight, including those costs where there is no discount.

We make every effort to help you keep the delivery costs to a minimum. To maximise your value, you will be able to see how much weight you can add to your basket without adding any extra delivery cost. Keep an eye out for it when viewing your basket. You can move away from the basket page at anytime to continue shopping, or shop from the list of suggested items on the same page. Your basket will still be there when you return to that page unless you clear your cookies, in which case the information will be lost.

Make sure to enter your town, city and eircode to get delivery costs. It won’t calculate it without this information.

One other important thing you may notice when shopping. When you reach “Free Shipping”, it means it is free within that weight range and for that type of delivery service. If you continue adding items to your basket but go into a different weight range, it may not be free any more. We hope that’s clear.

How to save on Spanish Gourmet Deliveries

How to save money on shipping costs with us.

Why not create a wishlist by clicking on the ‘heart’ icon in each product image? This will save it for when you come back to our store later. However, if will be lost if you clear cookies or use a different browser. The  best way to avoid this is to create and account which is very easy.

Delivery times and details

We offer two delivery services.

  1. Standard Delivery is 6 days maximum, unless there are unforeseen delays due to storms, strikes and other issues outside of the the control of our logistics partners or Toma. from our records, about 80% of those deliveries arrive in 4/5 days from the moment of shipping.
  2. Next Day Delivery means the end of the day after the order is shipped. We strongly recommend that for goods requiring refrigeration, you choose this option.

Be Wary of Phishing and Other Scams

All costs are paid for at checkout and nothing more is due. If you receive an email, sms or other form of communication asking for further payment then please ignore it. This will not have come from us or any of our partners. It is a common phishing technique so please be wary of it.

Regretfully, Toma cannot accept any liability if our customers fall victim to such a fraudulent activity.

If in doubt, please contact us.

When your order is shipped you will receive a email from our logistics partner with details of the delivery and how you can track it. You will have the option to select a pick up point and should follow the instructions given.
Please note, Toma cannot take responsibility for orders of perishable goods that have suffered because they were not picked up in good time. Neither, can we take responsibility for orders that are requested to be left outdoors at the delivery address. Please ensure that if requesting a delivery to be left outdoors, there is a place protected from the sun, rain and other weather conditions.

Packaging

This is a critical part of our business offering and we do everything to ensure that your goods arrive in excellent condition.
For perishable goods, this means they need to be insulated with isothermic packaging and cooling gel packets to maintain freshness. These are all approved of use with food and will cause no harm to your products.
All the packaging can be reused, along with the cooling gels, which just need to be put in the freezer before reuse. Please don’t throw them away. Give them away if you think you won’t ever need them.

Cured meats, some cheeses and all vacuum packed products have a high tolerance for a few days outside the fridge. In fact, many are never refrigerated. We add the appropriate quantity and type of packaging for the product and the type of delivery service you have chosen. Sometimes this involves filling empty space for insulation and breakage prevention. So whilst it may seem that there is unnecessary packaging at times, we can assure you that it is in nobody’s interests to use more packaging than is needed. All our packaging is recyclable and/or reusable.
